The Divisoria Sidewalk Portrait Artist

I saw this old man sitting on a “bangkito” beside a murky sidewalk doing portraits for a living in Sto. Cristo St. in Divisoria recently. He uses vellum board, cheap coloring pencils, a mongol and an eraser. He even uses a small magnifying glass! I asked him how much he charged for a portrait and he replied with “just enough to make ends meet.” This is proof that you don’t need expensive tools to create fantastic portraits and being an artist, the talent never leaves you even in your twilight years. Kudos to you Manong artist, apir!
